The team at The Dream Collective would like to formally congratulate our Founder, Sarah Liu, on being named one of the “40 under 40: Most Influential Asian-Australians” in the Entrepreneurship category at the Asian-Australian Leadership Summit.
These awards recognise the incredible achievements of young Asian-Australian leaders in fields including Education, Science & Medicine & Community & acknowledge the contribution they have each made to a truly diverse, Asia-engaged Australia.
Congratulations also to all winners & finalists, including the overall winner, Dr Muneera Bano for her work in STEM & to the Entrepreneurship category winner Tim Fung, Co-Founder & CEO at Airtasker. What an absolute honour it is to have Sarah & The Dream Collective’s impact recognised alongside the rest of 2019’s 40 Under 40 cohort.
A word from Sarah:
“From the start of my entrepreneurial journey at the age of 25, I was confronted with more than my fair share of challenges as a young woman and an Asian in Australia. I was so confronted by the lack of opportunities & number of obstacles for women in business that I felt compelled to start The Dream Collective.
My message to those that feel they are fighting an uphill battle is this: Don’t strive to be liked, strive to be respected. I see too many young women who are eager to please everyone in the early career stage – and this can often lead to us compromising our own values, priorities and goals. I can’t say people I’ve crossed path with will always like me – but I work hard to make sure that my expertise, capability and work ethics will earn people’s respect. And that – is what will last the distance.” – Sarah Liu, Founder & Managing Director The Dream Collective
